When most of us think of Easter, the first things that comes to mind are Easter eggs, the resurrection of Jesus Christ or both. But I learned something about Easter this week that I didn’t know before.
We spend about $2.5 billion on Easter candy and chocolate! Depending on your source for the numbers, that’s as much or even more than we spend on Halloween candy!!
Halloween is all about the candy! Alright, having a rockin’ costume is cool too, but still…
I’m guessing that part of the big number for Easter is that it’s pretty easy to spend a couple bucks on a chocolate Easter bunny, while that rock-hard, off-brand piece of bubble gum that you hand out for Halloween costs less than a penny.
According to one survey that I found online…the most desired Easter candy is the Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg. Good choice!
In second place was your standard chocolate bunny.
Rounding out the top five were: the Cadbury Creme Egg, candy-coated eggs (think M&M’s and Robin’s eggs), and jelly beans.
What about Peeps? On this list, marshmallow-peeps were our sixth favorite.
As a kid, I always looked forward to the malted milk balls/eggs in my basket.
So, what’s your favorite Easter candy?
