Wolverine Player Of The Week: Junior Basketball Player Cooper Folkestad

This week’s Wolverine Player of the Week is junior Cooper Folkestad.

Cooper’s game has grown up over the course of the season. There might not be any better proof than his 18 point, 20 rebound effort in leading Wadena-Deer Creek boys basketball over Sebeka this past Friday. Head Coach Kevin Tumberg had this to say about Cooper,

Cooper has worked hard all season long to be dominant on the defensive and offensive side of the ball.  He has had some other big rebounding games, but nothing like he had on Friday night against Sebeka.  The coaching staff has talked with Cooper about how he should be able to get 15-20 rebounds a game because of his size and strength and he showed he’s capable of that.  It has been fun to see him continue to grow as an athlete and we look forward to many more games like this from Coop.

Congratulations, Cooper!

A quick side note: one of the neatest things that has come from these interviews is hearing the kids echo what their coaches say. Be it personal growth, team philosophy, etc., it’s fun to get similar answers from both coach and athlete despite being asked separately. So, check out Coach Tumberg’s quote again then listen to Cooper’s interview here:
